finding a new rhythm

Now that the holidays are over, Jake has returned to classes, and I’ve regained some of my former energy, we are starting to fall into a new routine around here — one that involves more time for art projects, birdwatching, daily romps through the snow, a little knitting, and, as always, a lot of reading.  We’ve also been spending much more time in the kitchen together.  Whenever I open the baking cupboard Adeline asks “Can you help with the gredients, Mom?” (She still has trouble with pronouns, and “you” usually means “I.”  And out of nowhere she suddenly started calling us Mom and Dad instead of Mommy and Daddy.)  It’s good to have a fresh start with this new year.
