We’ve been listening to “A Wild, Wild Party in the Loquat Tree” by the Indigo Girls almost every time we get in the van (at someone’s insistence) and so it’s been stuck in my head for several days (I defy anyone to listen to it and not get it stuck in their head — it’s quite catchy). Also, for several weeks now I’ve been meaning to make some sewing (or lacing) cards for Adeline (as in Soulemama’s The Creative Family).
Somehow those two things got conflated in my head and we ended up with this set of Loquat Tree sewing cards, with Squirrel, Bird, Mouse, and Bee all decked out for the occasion.
And I’d just like to add that I used Jake’s watercolor pencils to make them, and boy are those things awesome. I tried to figure out how both coloring and painting something could be so much better than either coloring or painting separately, but I can’t explain it. They’re just cool. If you’ve never tried watercolor pencils, you should — these things are fun, and fun is good. (Perhaps we’ve been reading too much Dr. Seuss lately — 10 points to whomever can name the book that quotation comes from).
